Some have asked why I wear a Kippah on Shabbat.
I have three reasons.
This is the line of my mother.
She was born in Puerto Rico where her family had lived for several generations after the expulsion from Portugal.
The name Navarro was granted by the King of Portugal to his Yahudi physician’s family, giving them a more elevated status in the kingdom.
Generation after generation, the Navarros served the kings of Portugal as court physicians, and the Yahudi community as Chief Rabbis, often using their relationship with the king to help their people.
In the generation of Don Moises, the Yahudim in Portugal were suffering terrible abuses. Then Don Moises took a papal pronouncement that Yahudim were not to be harmed in any Catholic kingdom and demanded that the king enforce it in Portugal.
And the king did as he asked.

Why do I wear a decorative kippah (crown space holder) on my head on Shabbat?
1: The name of יהוה is upon my head and I am sent by יהושע.
2: I come before the Assembly always in and under authority.
3: I will always remember my family from whence I am descended.
The Kippah is representative TO ME of the crown all the Royal Priesthood are given by the KING upon arrival.
