Shabbat Shalom 😊 I understand we don't celebrate birthdays, but am wondering what does scripture say about funerals. I have given my condolences to the family and now have my parents asking why I am not attending the funeral. They are questioning my beliefs and have always thought I'm in a cult. I have the scripture let the dead bury the dead in my mind. Just needing guidance 😰

Shalom sis. We are to comfort those who mourn. You do that in the way that seems most fitting to you. I do not see a command against funerals. I will not say it’s 100% safe, but when my dad died we had a funeral. I would not recommend going to religious services but I don’t see a command that would prevent being with those who mourn.
If you look at the scripture where Moshe died or Aaron or Rachel or even Lazarus, people gathered to mourn. This seems similar to a funeral to me. May the Ruach HaQodesh lead you.
